  • Job Description

    Plans, designs, develop, evaluate, tests and integrates ES&S systems infrastructure, including implementation and design of hardware and software. Specifically, this includes responsibility for designing, analyzing, implementing and administering Local Area Networks (LAN’s), Wide Area Networks (WAN’s), and server infrastructure in accordance with ES&S company goals and objectives. Defines system requirements and generates performance and reliability specifications and requirements.  Provide high level technical support and manage assigned projects. Performs troubleshooting and remediation, ensures successful project implementation, and performs post project end user support.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Plans, designs, develops, implements, and maintains network/server infrastructure (physical and virtual) for the purposes of ensuring effective and efficient delivery of IT services in compliance with established guidelines and objectives
    2. Plans, coordinates and implements network security measures to protect data, software and hardware.
    3. Install and test hardware and software updates and enhancements; troubleshoot hardware and software problems in various operating environments; and plan and execute routine maintenance of systems and applications.
    4. Oversee various areas of the VMware and server environment, including Active Directory, Windows Servers, Microsoft Exchange, vSphere, scheduled down times and disaster recovery planning.
    5. Monitor the performance of network and systems environments to assure limited down-time and provides necessary recommendations for improvements; and ensures system backups are active and current and routinely tests restore functions.
    6. Create appropriate network and communications systems documentation.
    7. Automate daily/weekly jobs (using provided tools, scripting, etc) for process improvements.
    8. Participate and assist in major technology projects.
    9. Maintain telecommunications systems including voice, fax and data.
    10. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor



    Education:  Must have a bachelor’s degree in computer technology field (e.g., Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or equivalent background);



    5 years of experience designing, planning, testing and implementing IT network systems

    5 years of experience with IT systems, network and systems management technologies

    5 years of experience with the following areas: 

    • Network Engineering
    • IT systems architecture design
    • System security/backup/recovery
    • Systems engineering
    • Project management/implementation
    • System migrations/integrationsCisco experience configuring routers, switches and firewalls, including VPN tunnels and remote access.Microsoft Exchange experience preferred.CCNA, MCSE, VCP a plus
    • Current Security certification preferred
    • Demonstrated experience in virtualization and consolidation of server technologies, specifically VMware vSphere and ESXi Virtual Infrastructure.

    Personal effectiveness/credibility working with complex projects and multiple constituents

    Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience


    Licenses/Certifications Preferred:

    System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

    MCSA certifications in Office 365, SQL Server, Window 7/10, Server 2008/12/16

    VMware Data Center Virtualization certification, VMware Desktop and Mobility certification

    CCNA certifications in Routing and Switching, Wireless and Data Center


    Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


    Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment which routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and photocopiers.

    Travel: Approximately 10% travel is anticipated.
