  • Job Description

    The paralegal position is responsible for providing legal, administrative and clerical support to the company’s legal department. The position will conduct research, analyze and process legal documents, perform contract drafting and processing functions and perform general paralegal duties as assigned.  This position will prepare legal documents, provide reports, and handle a high volume of varying and time sensitive assignments. 

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Supports General Counsel and Associate General Counsel with legal matters including litigation filings, responding to discovery requests, populating and maintaining due diligence databases, drafting correspondence, and administrative and business-related tasks.
    2. Research of federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
    3. Prepares contracts, commission plans, consultant agreements, correspondence and other required federal and state compliance documents.
    4. Prepares weekly, monthly, and annual analyses and summaries of reports and assignments in an accurate and timely manner.
    5. Operates efficiently in a fast-paced work environment, which includes daily multi­tasking and ongoing reprioritization of tasks.
    6. Demonstrates a high degree of initiative and organization in approach to work duties without the need for constant oversight or instruction.
    7. Develops and maintains professional working relationships with customers, outside legal counsel, vendors, ES&S personnel and other outside contacts/sources.

    Qualifications:

     

    Education:  Must have a bachelor’s degree

     

    Experience:       

    At least 4 years’ experience including:

    Advanced skill level in writing, editing, proofreading, page layout and coordinating

    Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, word processing and data entry

    Client relations, records Management, Calendaring and Scheduling

     

    Competencies: 

    Strong capacity to communicate verbally and in writing to all levels of the organization

    Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols

    Excellent problem-solving skills and analysis

    Personal effectiveness/credibility

    Extremely responsive to internal and external clients and customers and performs tasks at all times with a sense of urgency

    Takes pride in providing complete and accurate work product within time periods assigned

     

    Licenses/Certifications Required:  Paralegal Certification strongly preferred.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

     

    Work Environment:  This job operates in a professional office environment which routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and photocopiers.

     

    Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

     

    Travel:  Approximately <10%% travel is expected.

     

    Security:  Required to consistently demonstrate adherence to all security requirements and accepted practices as contained in the current ES&S Security Policy.  Incumbents must proactively read, comprehend and adhere to all ES&S security policies, practices and procedures regarding the safety and safekeeping of co-workers, products, services and other intellectual property as defined in the ES&S New Business and Non-disclosure, or Proprietary matters, Confidential matters and Non-Competition agreements, and the current ES&S Security Policy Manual.
