  • Job Description

    A Certification Specialist participates in certification event preparation, integration and testing for Federal and state certifications and is responsible for ensuring accurate translation of Federal requirements into hardware and software products.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Configure, install and test hardware and software products and services across the array of diverse ballot styles and layouts in alignment with federally approved Voting system Test Labs (VSTL) and state certification requirements.
    1. Ensure complete and accurate composition and layout of customer ballots and corresponding translation of ballot layout into coded machine instructions through detailed quality reviews/product proofing.
    1. Assemble, organize and maintain detailed production files to be used as reference for product certification processes.
    1. Work closely with internal stakeholders including but not limited to Sales, Product Management, Product Development, Quality Assurance, Operations and Legal functions; and with external stakeholders including Federal and State election jurisdictions to ensure successful certification events are accomplished efficiently and timely.

    Qualifications:

     

    Education:  Must have a bachelor’s degree in a computer technology field;

     

    Experience:          

    At least 4 years experience including:

    Knowledge of Federal and State election product certification standards and processes

    Advanced knowledge of networking and troubleshooting PC, Telecom and security systems

    Experience installing, troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware and software using operating systems such as Microsoft XP, Microsoft 7, Windows 2003 Server, and Windows 2008 Server

    Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

     

    Work Environment:  This job operates in a professional office environment which routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and photocopiers.

     

    Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

     

    Travel:  Up to 60% travel is anticipated.

     

    Security:  Required to consistently demonstrate adherence to all security requirements and accepted practices as contained in the current ES&S Security Policy.  Incumbents must proactively read, comprehend and adhere to all ES&S security policies, practices and procedures regarding the safety and safekeeping of co-workers, products, services and other intellectual property as defined in the ES&S New Business and Non-disclosure, or Proprietary matters, Confidential matters and Non-Competition agreements, and the current ES&S Security Policy Manual. Ability to lift up to 70 lbs is required.
