  • Job Description

    Assist shipping supervisor in scheduling all outbound and some inbound shipments from and too the Birmingham facilities.  Assist in acquiring competitive rate quotes and appropriate delivery dates for orders/shipments from approved trucking companies and help make shipping arrangements based on availability.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

    • Prepare shipping documentation (BOL-s and packing lists) plus generating shipping labels. Send BOL-s daily to Accounting and Customer Service departments to allow proper invoicing of all items.
    • Assist Sales, Customer Service, and Accounting with research of shipped items. Communicate all changes to appropriate management, and CSR personnel on a timely basis.
    • Purchase materials required for assembly and boxing of products and other shipping activities. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
    • Use forklift and pallet jacks to efficiently move warehoused products. Pack items for shipment; verify contents of received packages.

    Qualifications:

     

    Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

    . 

    Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a shipping and receiving environment preferred.

     

    Competencies:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions (in English), short correspondence, and memos. 

    Ability to write simple correspondence

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.   

     

    Licenses/Certifications Required:  Driver’s license required and Forklift license preferred.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

     

    Travel:  Minimal travel.
