    The Manager, Public Relations, is accountable for developing and implementing communication strategy primarily to the news media, encompassing traditional, digital and social media. The position will also help create key messaging for other external audiences, including legislative communication.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Responding to news media in a timely, on-message and effective manner, serving as day-to-day spokesperson for ES&S, accurately and reliably representing the company’s actions and perspectives.
    2. Building relations with key reporters on a national level, serving as trusted link between the company, its subject matter experts, and news media.
    3. Positioning the company in a proactive manner through media relations as the nation’s leading, and trusted, elections provider.
    4. Plan and manage public relations and external communication programs designed to create and maintain a favorable public image.
    5. Oversee press releases, gather information and prepare appropriate responses.
    6. Responsible for creating and executing external communication that helps ES&S achieve its goals.

    Education:  Must have a bachelor’s degree in Business,  Journalism, Marketing, Communication or related degree



    At least 5 years’ experience in a position that regularly interacted with news media, including at least 2 years of experience as Organization’s spokesperson

    Experience working with senior leaders in a complex industry or technology business. 

    At least 2 years of experience in an external communication position that included issues management.




    Thorough knowledge of and advanced abilities in public and media relations, including use of social and digital media for issues management.

    Excellent written communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, ability to multi-task and strong attention to detail.

    Ability to represent the company’s actions and positions accurately and professionally, in manner that builds company reputation.

    Sound judgment and initiative in solving problems.

    Work independently as needed, collaboratively as needed, and ability to discern appropriate involvement of company leaders, subject matter experts, and outside counsel.

    Prioritize among multiple tasks, including immediate response and strategic initiatives.

    Highest ethical standards and adherence to confidentiality. 

    Analyze, synthesize and communicate complex information in a clear, compelling manner


    Licenses/Certifications Required:  None


    Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


    Work Environment:  This job operates in a professional office environment which routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and photocopiers.  Work hours may vary including nights and weekends based on project requirements.

    Travel:  Approximately 15% travel is expected.


    Security:  Required to consistently demonstrate adherence to all security requirements and accepted practices as contained in the current ES&S Security Policy.  Incumbents must proactively read, comprehend and adhere to all ES&S security policies, practices and procedures regarding the safety and safekeeping of co-workers, products, services and other intellectual property as defined in the ES&S New Business and Non-disclosure, or Proprietary matters, Confidential matters and Non-Competition agreements, and the current ES&S Security Policy Manual.
