  • Job Description

    Develops, researches, designs, implements, tests, and evaluates software in certain features of systems, in conjunction with hardware product development, that enable equipment/components to perform their applications, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. This role works with components which may have Graphic User Interface (GUI) requirements in addition to application requirements.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Under the direction of Director, this development position formulates and designs software modules using scientific analysis and mathematical models in alignment with customer outcome requirements using applicable programming tools and languages to code, test and debug software.
    1. Analyzes software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
    1. Enhances and repairs functionality of existing applications.
    1. Documents design and code details in order to facilitate operation effectiveness among stakeholders.
    1. Provides regular updates with respect to progress on tasks and projects.
    1. Provides end user support as needed to resolve production issues.
    1. Provides on-call coverage and/or on-site support during peak election periods.

    Qualifications:

     

    Education:  Minimum Associate of Applied Science (Computer Discipline), prefer Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Management Information Systems)

     

    Experience:          

    Minimum 2 years experience including:

    Experience with C++ development, GNU compilers preferred

    Related work experience with Integrated Development Environment applicable to company targeted projects

    Experience in programming techniques and practices applicable to company targeted projects

    Experience with Agile software development methodology

    Experience with common data structures and algorithms

    Experience with and ability to apply Object Oriented Analysis and/or Structured Analysis

    Experience in unit testing and testing environment tools.

    Experience with use and administration of source code repositories

     

    Competencies:    

    Ability to collaborate with a multifunctional team

    Ability to analyze problems and design, implement and test appropriate solutions to problems

    Ability to document and communicate technical information for consumption by ES&S managers and associates

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry 

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions

    Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

    Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form including abstract and/or concrete

     

    Licenses/Certifications:  Software certifications a plus.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

     

    Work Environment:  This job operates in a professional office environment which routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and photocopiers.

     

    Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and utilize mental acuity.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

     

    Travel:  Approximately  5% travel is anticipated.

     

    Security:  Required to consistently demonstrate adherence to all security requirements and accepted practices as contained in the current ES&S Security Policy.  Incumbents must proactively read, comprehend and adhere to all ES&S security policies, practices and procedures regarding the safety and safekeeping of co-workers, products, services and other intellectual property as defined in the ES&S New Business and Non-disclosure, or Proprietary matters, Confidential matters and Non-Competition agreements, and the current ES&S Security Policy Manual.
