  • Job Description

    Defines hardware or software technical approaches and design of product or major features  in the  development, research, design, implementation, testing, and evaluation of software and systems, in conjunction with hardware product development, that enable equipment/components to perform their applications, applying advanced expertise in product and core technologies, principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. This role requires innovative thought in planning, executing and analyzing data in non-routine, complex projects where procedures must be modified.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Defines technical approach for an entire product or major feature.  Anticipates, identifies and solves a wide array of issues where information is available.  Provides support for board level software including FPGA, imaging, BIOS, and device drivers.
    • Executes study projects in support of design/architectural activities 
    • Plans and schedules medium to long term assignments and recommends appropriate resources for accomplishing objectives. 
    • Provides regular updates with respect to progress on tasks and assignments.
    • Provide end user support as needed to resolve production issues.
    • Provides design direction within software Engineering department and provides input into management hiring, development and performance feedback among Software Engineering staff

    Qualifications:

     

    Education:  Required Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Management Information Systems)

     

    Experience:          

    Minimum 6- 8 years experience including:  

     

    C & C++ language skills, and FPGA programming experience in VHDL or Verilog desired

    Significant experience with Integrated Development Environment for a variety of platforms, applicable to current company projects.

    Expertise in advanced programming techniques and practices for a variety of platforms, applicable to current company projects.

    Expertise with Agile software development methodology

    Expertise of common data structures and algorithms

    Expertise to apply Object Oriented Analysis and/or Structured Analysis

    Deep Experience with Quality Assurance processes

    Experience with UML modeling

    Experience with selection, administration and use of source code repositories

    Experience designing and implementing cryptography libraries that meet NIST and FIPS guidelines

     

    Competencies:    

    Ability to collaborate with a multifunctional team

    Ability to analyze complex problems and design, implement and test appropriate solutions to problems

    Ability to document and communicate technical information for consumption by ES&S managers and associates

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry 

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions

    Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

    Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form including abstract and/or concrete variables

    Ability to represent the company on election industry panels and work groups

    Ability to represent the company as a technical resource regarding litigation issues

     

    Licenses/Certifications:  Advanced software certifications recommended.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities:  N/A

     

    Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment which routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and photocopiers.

    Travel:  Approximately 10% travel is anticipated.
