  • Job Description

    The System Administrator is responsible for installation, maintenance and support for all aspects of system administration including security, operating systems, servers, hardware, and application interfaces. This position will be responsible for management, configuration, and troubleshooting of mobile Windows devices.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Responsible for the mobile device management (MDM) of large scale implementation of Windows powered devices deployed in the field. This includes the configuration, security, deployment and management to comply with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
    1. Installs, configures and administers network and system components including, but not limited to Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows Embedded (IoT), Cisco Switches, Cisco ASA and FTD firewalls, commercial intrusion detection systems, Windows servers ( 2008, 2012, 2016), Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and 7, commercial backup solutions, Dell PowerEdge servers, Dell Equallogic PS Series SAN, Dell PowerVault SAN and disk arrays, Nimble hybrid arrays, Citrix XenApp Server, Citrix Netscaler application delivery controllers and SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor and Application Performance Monitor.
    1. Administers, builds and supports VMWare systems to support business applications.
    1. Documents configuration details in order to facilitate operational effectiveness among network and server components stakeholders.
    1. Facilitates systems changes by effective communication with internal stakeholders and third-party providers; and assures compliance with change control procedures.
    1. Provide on-call coverage and/or on-site support during peak election periods as well as during maintenance periods.

    Qualifications:

     

    Education:  Must have a bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Management Information Systems) or equivalent work experience.

     

    Experience:          

    At least 7 years of experience in Network or System Administration (installing and maintaining components) and Security Management.

    2-3 years of experience in Mobile Device Management (MDM) specifically with large scale implementations using     technologies such as Mircrosoft Intune or VMWare Airwatch.

    Working knowledge of NIST/PCI/SANS policy frameworks and best practices.

       

    Competencies:    

    Strong written and verbal presentation skills

    Strong problem solving/analytical skills

     

    Licenses/Certifications: 

    System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or; Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or;

    Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or; Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or;

    Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or; Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)

                             

    Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position may guide, counsel and/or mentor less experienced staff.

     

    Work Environment:  This job operates in a professional office environment which routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and photocopiers; or in an information systems development environment, computer operations facility, data closet, component rack cage and/or similar facilities.

     

    Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and utilize mental acuity.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Additionally, may be required to lift up to 60 pounds including placing equipment into “racks” at the height of six (6) feet.

     

    Travel:  Approximately 5% travel is anticipated.

     

    Security:  Required to consistently demonstrate adherence to all security requirements and accepted practices as contained in the current ES&S Security Policy.  Incumbents must proactively read, comprehend and adhere to all ES&S security policies, practices and procedures regarding the safety and safekeeping of co-workers, products, services and other intellectual property as defined in the ES&S New Business and Non-disclosure, or Proprietary matters, Confidential matters and Non-Competition agreements, and the current ES&S Security Policy Manual.
