  • Job Description

    The Senior Technologist is responsible for providing guidance and leadership for all technical aspects of ES&S Systems Development division and Product Development.  The position works with the Systems Development Leadership Team and Executive Management to grow the company by establishing and leading technological strategies and resources. Using an active and practical approach, the Senior Technologist will collaborate with technical and non-technical partners throughout the organization and industry to develop a vision and plans that account for and guide future Product Development, Information Technology, and Cybersecurity efforts.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

    1. Establish the department’s technical vision and provide technical leadership to ongoing and future development efforts.
    2. Engage with Architects, Engineers, Product Managers, and others to unify technology strategies, advance automation efforts, and enhance Software Product Line Engineering (SPLE) initiatives.
    3. Directs the department’s strategic direction, development, and future growth as it relates to the use of current and new technologies.
    4. Works in a consultative fashion with other department heads, such as marketing, operations, and corporate IT as an advisor of technologies that may improve efficiency and/or effectiveness.
    5. Provide leadership and guidance to department heads in a fashion that supports the department’s mission, vision, and initiatives.
    6. Consistently contributes new ideas and ways to incorporate latest trends in technology to promote innovation.
    7. Conducts research, analysis, and case studies on leading edge technologies and makes determinations on the value and feasibility of implementation.
    8. Review and help develop technical implementation plans and provides feedback and guidance.
    9. Provides leadership and assistance regarding cryptographic implementations, vulnerability assessments, penetrations testing, and technical security plans.

    Qualifications:

     

    Education:  Must have a bachelor’s degree in technology-related studies or equivalent experience.

     

    Experience:          

    Minimum 5 years’ experience including:

    Significant hands-on product development and/or IT experience

    Demonstrated leadership capabilities

    Experience with a wide range of technologies

    Experience with developing proposals and briefing senior leaders

    Embedded firmware, various operating systems, desktop application, web, and/or cloud technologies preferred

     

    Competencies:    

    Strong technical capacity and eagerness to learn

    Full stack technologist preferred

    Effective verbal, written, and presentation communication skills

    Problem Solving/Analysis

    Communication proficiency in both technical and non-technical arenas

    Personal effectiveness/credibility

    Knowledge of cybersecurity and cryptography best practices

    Ability to think and act strategically and proactively

     

    Licenses/Certifications Required:  CISSP, CSSLP, CEH, CISM/A, CCNP, MCSD/E or related certification(s) are valued, but not required

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

     

    Work Environment:  This job operates in a professional office environment which routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and photocopiers.

    Travel:  Approximately 10% to 20% travel is expected.

     

    Security:  Required to consistently demonstrate adherence to all security requirements and accepted practices as contained in the current ES&S Security Policy.  Incumbents must proactively read, comprehend and adhere to all ES&S security policies, practices and procedures regarding the safety and safekeeping of co-workers, products, services and other intellectual property as defined in the ES&S New Business and Non-disclosure, or Proprietary matters, Confidential matters and Non-Competition agreements, and the current ES&S Security Policy Manual.
