    The ES&S, Field Services Technician I, installs, tests, and repairs ES&S hardware and software products assigned to the technician’s territory.  This position requires formal training or previous experience in electronics, computer technology or mechanical principles.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Trained and possesses basic knowledge with minimal experience
    2. Basic electronics and mechanical aptitude is required. Must be able to read and understand a digital volt meter. Must have the ability to use basic hand tools, read resistor color coding, has attained basic soldering skills and understands safe electrostatic discharge techniques when working on equipment.
    3. Needs to be able to read and understand equipment manuals. Must be able to pass the associated tests for each piece of equipment covered during training. Will be responsible for accurately and securely maintaining a parts inventory and the return of defective parts in a timely manner. A ES&S Technician I will perform preventive maintenance and repairs from work orders that are assigned to them.
    4. An ES&S Technician I performs preventative maintenance, installations, upgrades and election readiness checks on the full array of ES&S election equipment and systems with supervision.
    5. Understands the anatomy of a ballot. Recognizes the functions of cut marks, registration marks, the timing track, code channel and oval positions.
    6. Need to have basic computer skills and be familiar with Microsoft Office. An ES&S Technician I needs to utilize Outlook, News, Concur, Synergy and Paylocity.
    7. Need be able to stand, sit or bend for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs repeatedly throughout the day. Must be able to work in non-climate controlled work areas such as hot, cold and humid conditions.
    8. Must have good communication skills in order to interact with both internal and external customers.
    9. Must develop good time management skills. ES&S Technician I will be responsible for setting a schedule and contacting customers to set dates to be onsite.
    10. An ES&S Technician I learns and adheres to all ES&S travel and expenses policies. Must submit expenses in an accurate and timely manner weekly.

    Qualifications: Entry Level Position


    Education:  Must have a vocational degree in electronics, mechanical or computer technology fields; or equivalent experience in a Field Services position working on electro-mechanical equipment.

    Licenses/Certifications Required:  Driver’s license


    Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


    Work Environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving Electro/mechanical parts and noise. This position requires travel in a variety of weather conditions. The employee must be able to work in non-climate controlled work areas such as hot, cold and humid conditions.


    Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The employee must be able to stand, sit or bend for extended periods of time. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.


    Travel:  Approximately 70% travel annually is expected.


    Security:  Required to consistently demonstrate adherence to all security requirements and accepted practices as contained in the current ES&S Security Policy.  Incumbents must proactively read, comprehend and adhere to all ES&S security policies, practices and procedures regarding the safety and safekeeping of co-workers, products, services and other intellectual property as defined in the ES&S New Business and Non-disclosure, or Proprietary matters, Confidential matters and Non-Competition agreements, and the current ES&S Security Policy Manual.
