A Security Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the IT infrastructure such as networks, servers and storage. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, implementing network security measures in order to protect data, software and hardware. Participate in determining security requirements, risk mitigation strategies and information security solutions while updating/testing security and incident response plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Education: Must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information systems or equivalent computer technology field
At least 5 years experience supporting security components and applying security best practices across an enterprise application/network infrastructure.
5 years experience with IT Systems, network and systems management technology
5 years experience with Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls, including VPN tunnels
Demonstrated experience with virtualization and consolidated server technologies, specifically VMware, vSphere and EXSi virtual infrastructure
Experience in managing/using products in areas of Vulnerability Management, Patch Management, IPS/IDS
Knowledge of TCP/IP: must be able to demonstrate technical understanding of all layers of the TCP/IP stack, including familiarity with major application-layer protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SFTP, SMTP, DNS, etc
Must be able to read and understand a packet trace; must be able read and interpret network access control logs and lists
A clear understanding of a variety of network and application attacks: example include DoS/DDoS, buffer overflows, SQL injection, reconnaissance scanning, and evasive methods attackers use to avoid detection; must be able to demonstrate a minimum level of familiarity with well-know vulnerabilities and explois
Maintain and mange MS Active Directory structure and security
Licenses/Certifications Required: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) desired.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment which routinely uses standard office equipment.
