Job Description

The Vice President, Systems Security is responsible for leading and owning ES&S wide security efforts.  This focus encompasses an active role in setting product direction, driving security improvements into product requirements and design, ensuring best security practices are employed in product development, reviewing and improving operational procedures both internally and externally via partners, engaging in the certification process to ensure strong security throughout the process, working with IT to optimize the security of ES&S infrastructure and working with marketing to manage the security message.  Also includes working with external security organizations that may be engaged to assist ES&S.


The Vice President, Systems Security essential duties and responsibilities include:

  1.  Involved with hardware and software product release planning to ensure adequate security considerations are in place.
  2.  Works closely with Product Management to drive the necessary security enhancements into product requirements.
  3.  Participates in product design reviews to ensure that security best practices are included in design artifacts and that they are properly implemented into product releases.
  4.  Works closely with operations to ensure that both physical and technology based security measures are in place to ensure that all operations tasks are optimally protected. Includes working with       partners to ensure they have adequate operational and technology based security measures in place.  May include establishing a partner certification program.
  5.  Engages with the certification team to ensure that strong security measures are in place during the testing process, including the delivery of equipment and software to testing labs.
  6.  Active involvement with the corporate IT to assist with defining and implementing optimal comprehensive enterprise security solutions to protect corporate assets. Includes external threat assessment   and related countermeasures, network segmentation and network monitoring.  Involved in internal and external periodic penetration testing and security reviews.  
  7.  Actively engages with regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies to stay abreast of security issues and regulatory changes. Includes interaction with the Election Assistance Commission. 
  8.  Active monitoring of security related industry news to ensure adequate consideration is given to recent threat advancements.
  9.  Develop and implement a plan for cross discipline cyber incident management.
  10.  Develop and implement corporate wide security policies and standards. Provide security related training and mentoring across the enterprise related to these polices and standards
  11.  Works closely with Marketing to provide security related input to internal and external corporate communications.
  12.  Coordinates activity with outside security organizations that may be engaged to assist with security efforts.

Qualifications for the Vice President, Systems Security:


Education:  Must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration or computer technology field or equivalent experience.


Experience for the Vice President, Systems Security:

At least 10 years experience including:

Expert in security – Hardware, software, cloud

Enterprise wide security engagement

Strong knowledge of accepted industry security standards

Security certification preferred 

Competencies for the Vice President, Systems Security:          

Technical capacity

Ability to operate in a matrix environment

Excellent communication proficiency including strong public speaking skills

Personal effectiveness/credibility

Strong leadership skills

Licenses/Certifications Required:  CISSP preferred


Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but will be responsible for providing security related direction across the organization.


Work Environment:  This job operates in a professional office environment which routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and photocopiers.

Travel:  Approximately 20% travel is expected.


Security:  Required to consistently demonstrate adherence to all security requirements and accepted practices as contained in the current ES&S Security Policy.  Incumbents must proactively read, comprehend and adhere to all ES&S security policies, practices and procedures regarding the safety and safekeeping of co-workers, products, services and other intellectual property as defined in the ES&S New Business and Non-disclosure, or Proprietary matters, Confidential matters and Non-Competition agreements, and the current ES&S Security Policy Manual.
